Press Release of Post-Program Activity
“All of Us Matter” by IPY (Indonesia Participating Youth) SSEAYP 2019
Pilot Project (16th December 2019)
Bahasa
JAKARTA, 16 Desember 2019 – Indonesia Participating Youth (IPY) peserta The Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) 2019 kembali ke tanah air dengan melaksanakan kegiatan sosial bertajuk All of Us Matter project.

JAKARTA, 16 December 2019 – Indonesia Participating Youth (IPY) of The Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) 2019 returned to the homeland by carrying out a social activity titled All of Us Matter project. This program is a manifestation of the delegation’s social contribution to the community which is also an annual agenda of the SSEAYP contingent called Go and Grow.
The name of the All of Us Matter project itself contains a message that IPY 2019 wants to convey that everyone without exception, has the same rights and opportunities to be able to learn, grow, and develop. In addition, this program is based on the awareness of IPY 2019 as young pioneers who are aware of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs is a global action plan agreed by world leaders, including Indonesia, to end poverty, reduce inequality, and protect the environment which is expected to be achieved by 2030. Through this program, IPY 2019 hopes to play a role in the implementation of SDGs programs by the government.
On this occasion, IPY 2019 made a visit to the Class II Special Child Development Institute (LPKA) Jakarta. IPY 2019 conducted the activities by playing together and interacting with students in place. The name of the Class II Special Child Development Institute (LPKA) itself was released in 2014 where it was previously referred to as the Children’s Penitentiary (Lapas). The replacement of the term Lapas to LPKA aims to reduce the stigmatization that often creates social inequality towards the kids in the society once they go back to the community after the imprisonment term.
“Hopefully this activity is not just once, it will be very good if it can be sustainable. Especially if the students can be taught about certain useful skills so that they can be accepted once they’re back to the community and lead an independent life. I am also very supportive if the activities here (LPKA Class II Jakarta) can be used as an example to be continued in other regions in Indonesia, ” said Akhmad Heru Setiawan, A.Md.IP., S.H., M.H., Head of Development Section.
Press Release PPA 2019 – Pilot Project in LPKA
The form of activities provided is based on LPKA students’ needs, so that it is expected to be able to help them build good mental endurance. The two main activities that are carried out were the ‘sharing session with foster brothers & sisters’, and ‘writing letters to yourself in the future’.
In the first session, 80 participating students were divided into several groups with each foster brother and sister from IPY 2019. In this activity, students were invited to start a conversation about themselves that began with a self-introduction, things they like, further to their hopes and dreams.
“One day I want to continue my education up to the university. I want to learn, I want to be a useful person for the nation, I want to be a president, ” said one of the students with sparkling eyes.
After the sharing session, the students were asked to write a letter to their future selves within the next 10 years. Through this activity, IPY 2019 wants to raise the enthusiasm and hope for the students through the provided space of interaction and expression about themselves as well as with each other.
Press Release PPA 2019 – Ongoing Activity in LPKA
This program is a pilot project that marks the start of Go and Grow of Indonesia Participating Youth 2019 as alumni of the 2019 SSEAYP officially. Similar activities will begin simultaneously starting from March 2020 in 28 originating provinces of each IPY 2019 and is expected to be an ongoing activity. The series of activities in LPKA Class II Jakarta that will continue to be carried out in the future are expected to be able to realize the dream of this program, which is to help improve the mental health of LPKA Students and to contribute in decreasing the number of recidivism (recurring crime) of the students in the long run.
